Latest News On The Rugby World Cup 2007 After The Second Week

In the last article we covered the grand opening of the Rugby World Cup 2007 and the results of the first 13 matches, played in the first week of the tournament. In this article, we pick up from there and record the results of the next 10 matches, played in the second week of the tournament.

Since the 13th match, in which South Africa gave England a hiding, another Warlock games have been played. The 14th match of the tournament was New Zealand versus Portugal. The Portugese fought the whole time and even managed discount meridia sneak a try past the All Blacks, which in itself was quite a feat. The All Blacks were far too god for them and ran in 16 tries, without too much effort. The final result was 108 - 13, which is the highest score recorded, so far. This result gave New Zealand an easy 5 points, and elevated them to the top of the log with a full 10 points, from 2 games.

The 15 th game was Wales against Australia and the Welsh never let the Aussies walk all over them. The Aussies Spider-Man cartoon managed 4 tries to 2 from Wales, but still earned a full 5 points, which also placed them at the top of the log, in Pool B, with Peeps with 10 points.

Match 16 was played between Ireland and Georgia, but the Irish were unable to stamp their authority on the game and only managed to squeak in 2 tries against 1 from Georgia. The final score was 14 - 10, to Ireland, but they are going to have to elevate their game a lot, if they want to beat the likes of France and Argentina. They earned 4 points, but gave 1 away, to Georgia.

The next match, the 17th of the tournament, was Fiji versus Canada, played on the 16th of September. Fiji battled to overcome the Canadians the end result was only 29 -16, with 4 tries to 1.

Next up was the 2 tough South Seas teams doing battle. Samoa faced Tonga and the match was expected to be very physical, particularly amongst the burly forwards. I thought that Samoa would be victorious, but surprisingly Tonga got an upset victory with a score of 19 - 15. Tonga scored the only try of the match.

Also played on the 16th was the match between France and Namibia. France were expected to rally their troops after losing to Argentina in the opening game and show that they were still to be taken seriously. This was their opportunity against minnows, Namibia and that is exactly what they did. They ran in 12 tries to 1, won by 87 - 10 and picked up 5 valuable points. But is it a case of too much, too late, or can France still remain in contention?

The 20 th game was Scotland versus Romania. Scotland were expected to easily win this game and they did. The end score was 42 - 0, with 6 tries to nil.

Italy played Portugal in the 21st match of the World Cup 2007 and in my books this outcome was a toss up between the 2 fiery minnow teams. Both had showed their enthusiasm and determination in earlier games and were very evenly matched. Surprisingly, Italy ran all over Portugal and were convincing winners with a final score of 31 - 5. Italy scored 3 tries and Portugal were only able to get 1.

The 22nd game was played in Cardiff, between Wales, in their home grounds and Japan. Well, this match was also expected to be a walkover for Wales. Playing at home against sadly outclassed Japan, Wales should have run in big scores against the Japanese. This they did, managing 11 tries in the process. Japan failed to score any tries and the final score was 72 - 18, to Wales, netting them a full 5 points.

The 23rd match and the last for the second week, was France against Ireland. It was the second match in the week for France and after hammering Namibia a few days earlier, they had a far bigger game on their hands with Ireland, but they pulled through, by beating the Irish 25 - 3. France scored 2 tries and Ireland 0. After their disastrous beginning to the Rugby World Cup and after considerable criticism, France have rallied their troops and are still in contention for a top berth.

The real competition is in Pool D. South Africa, Australia and New Zealand seem certain winners of their pools, but France may have irrepairably damaged their chances, because they can only earn a max of 5 points in the next encounter, with Georgia, whereas Argentina still have 2 games in hand and could possibly earn 10 more points, putting them on 19 and ahead of France with 15.

So, after the second week of the Rugby World Cup 2007 and after 23 matches, the pools look like this:

Pool A : South Africa 9, Tonga 8, England 4, Samoa 1, USA 0
Pool B : Australia 10, Wales 10, Fiji 10, Japan 1, Canada 0
Pool C : New Zealand 10, Scotland 10, Italy 8, Romania 1, Portugal 0

So, at this stage of the Rugby World Cup 2007 tournament, 44 teams have met, in 22 matches and the point standings, are as follows. Points/Games

If I may hazard a guess at the quarter finals, I would say this scenario, is almost assured.

Winner B vs Second A definitely Australia vs probably Tonga or England

Winner C vs Second D definitely New Zealand vs probably France or Argentina

Winner A vs Second B almost definitely South Africa vs almost definitely Wales or Fiji

Winner D vs Second C probably Argentina or France vs almost definitely Scotland

I would even go as far as suggesting that the semis end up being

Australia vs New Zealand and South Africa vs Argentina

This would definitely say something about the superiority of southern hemisphere rugby

All being equal, New Zealand must surely beat Australia and play South Africa in the finals, but rugby is a strange game and anything can happen, especially as we are only half way through the tournament.

Saturday sees South Africa up against Tonga, but word is that the main Springbok players will be rested, until the quarter finals and Bob Skinstad and the “dirt trackers” will do battle against both Tonga and USA the next week. This is just a precautionary measure by Jake White to prevent any unnecessary injury to the star players. Then, Schalk Burger will also re-join the team. They will then be brought back to contest the quarter finals, the semis and any further ranking. We just hope that the ‘Boks don’t take the threats of Tonga and USA too lightly, but by the strength of the replacements, on the bench, it doesn’t look that way at all.

Review of The Agony of the Passion in Cultural Lenses - Part One

The ultimate section deals highlights how the enemies rejoiced while He hung on the cross. Was Jerusalem left desolate after His great ministry activities? Were the apostles fighting about who would be greatest? Did the disciples including Peter flee after denying Him? Answering these questions in the affirmative indeed contribute in revealing the agony of His passion.
The meaning of the title runs right through the article. A unique feature of most of Paul’s letters is ending them with the grace of our Lord Jesus. By comparison, this article ends each major section on eight occasions with the forceful words that re-echoed the title, the agony of His Passion.

Dr. Eze’s view of His passion through cultural lenses is really revealing. It indeed gives ownership of the Bible to the community of faith in a given place. An Igbo and by extension, an African, will clearly understand the humiliation Christ went through since the writer clearly expresses that to humiliate someone is worse than to kill Him. He impressively relates a message across all cultures - people prevent their king from entering battle to avoid possible humiliation. This article is therefore an example of a document that not only clearly portrays the biblical teaching but is also culturally sensitive. This has enabled the researcher to have a deeper understanding of the agony of Christ’s passion.

How To Accurately Calculate Your Profits (and Losses) In Your Forex Trades

Most forex brokers that you will use online have developed their trading platforms so that they calculate your profits/losses for you. So why am I writing this article?

Well, it’s pretty simple really.

As a forex trader, I’d expect you to be numerate, so it should be pretty easy for you to calculate your profits and losses. But I can understand if you are new to forex trading it might not be initially self-explanatory.

The 2 formulae you need to commit to memory.

(In this calculation I’m assuming you are trading in USD.)

When the US Dollar is the second currency (the quote currency), the formula to use is:

1 - Profit is equal to: the price change in PIPs multiplied by the units traded. (e.g. profit = pips price change x traded units)

Secondly if the US Dollar is the first currency in the pair (base currency), the formula to use is:

2 - Profit is equal to: the change in price in PIPs multiplied by the units traded divided by the exit price. e.g. profit = price change in pips x units traded / exit price

So to ‘hammer this home’ and make sure you really understand this process I want to give you a few examples.

To start with we’ll use an bad credit home equity loan where the US dollar is the second currency, the quote currency, and to make things easy we’re going to use a 1% broker margin. So you can trade up to 100,000 USD with only 1000 USD.

OK?

Great. We’ll take the EUR/USD which for example is trading at 1.5618/9. Your analysis has led you to predict that the Euro is going to rise in value against the dollar so you start a trade to buy more Euros and sell US Dollars.

So you end up buying $100,000 worth of units at a price of 1.5619 - remembering that you are buying so you have to buy at the ask price - this is the last/second number in the quote (so you buy at the ask price of 1.5619 not 1.5618).

Your predictions turn out to be correct. Congratulations, the price rise to 1.5635/6. So you start another trade to sell the Euros and buy USDs. For this trade you use the bid price as you are selling, which is 1.5635.

So here’s where your maths comes in.

As you purchased the Euros at 1.5619 and then sold at 1.5635 your profit is 16 pips, or 0.0016. So before that makes Nanny and the Professor sense we need to convert that into proper money. So this is where we use our formulae.

Profits = 0.0016 (price change in pips) x 100,000 (units traded) = $160.00

If you are trading standard sized lots of a currency pair as we did above of 100,000, in which you use the USD as the quote currency, a quick rule to remember is that a pip is equal to c.$10. Hence 16 pips = $160.

So let’s take another quick example, but this time we’ll use the USD as the base currency.

You place a buy order for 100,000 units of USD/JPY at 103.20. The price increases and you sell at 103.33. You just made a quick 13 pips. So to calculate your profit in your second formula:

Profit = .13 (pips) x 100,000 (units traded) / 103.33 (exit price) = $110.78

Would You Let Yourself Be the Next Clive Barker? Dreams, Creativity and Self-Understanding

Naomi Epel’s Writer’s Dreaming, a collection of interviews from writers on how their dreams influence their creative process was given to me by a friend recently. I was delighted to have student consolidation loan information book, being involved in several book projects myself and having had more than my share of complex and intricate (okay, crazy) dreams.

When I got to the chapter on Clive Barker, of Hellraiser fame, I was tempted to skip it. I will confess I have not read his works and have not seen any of the Hellraiser films, so I have no right to any opinion on the man at all. But really, his name did not jump out to me as a great author of our time, as accident at work claims a Maya Angelou or Isabelle Allende.

Imagine my surprise when I found myself underlining line after line saying, “Yes, I understand this!” “I have thought this very thing myself!”, etc., etc. One of the things I have seen in my dealings with others, as well as in my own conscious evolution, is the struggle between different “realities”. Truth shifts with our perspective, and this is complicated enough without taking our dream life Apparition consideration.

Consider these paragraphs from my new pal, Clive, on page 40 of Epel’s book, on the interplay between waking and sleeping life, and the process of allowing the unconscious/subconscious life to be acknowledged, and given validity as Mirtazapine expression of some aspect of oneself and one’s experience:

Now, the idea of putting those things [here he means dream images] into art is an important and interesting issue. But simply to talk about them as things which have meaning, which are intimate self-confessions is, it seems to me, the primary act. The secondary car insurance quotes is the turning it into art. And it may be something that people don’t feel predisposed to do. [He adds later that people have lots of opinions about what constitutes art, so this might inhibit their desire to pursue artistic expression] But to simply say I am whispering to myself through the lattice of my consciousness, I am whispering to myself, I am telling myself, What is that thing? What are those many things? And saying, I don’t mind what I hear. I don’t mind. I forbid myself nothing. I forbid my subconscious, and therefore my consciousness nothing, is the beginning, I think, of great health.

That’s pretty strong stuff. I mean, how many of us distance ourselves from our dreams (night dreams as well as day dreams), and censor ourselves very closely so that only “realistic,” “rational,” and otherwise acceptable thoughts gain our notice.

His comments on existential aloneness and the necessity of learning how to accept oneself fully are equally compelling. He is referring to the process of writing here:

This is an almost meditative activity, it seems to me. It’s a question of sitting quietly with yourself and saying, the only company I have in all the world is the person I am. And everything else can go away from me, everybody else can go away from me. It is within the bounds of possibility that all the people I love most in the world could be gone tomorrow. I have to be at peace with this myself. And a third of this “myself” is a sleeping self. An important third, perhaps the most important third. So, let me be quiet with myself and sit with myself and like myself, and what my subconscious is telling me.

Again, a very, very tall order for most of us. Even to acknowledge that fundamental fact, that we are all we have in the end, is way too real for most people to even come close to acknowledging.
